Flower Tom Disguise
Let’s help Tom stay hidden away this Thanksgiving! Follow the pattern below to create a flower hat!

To make this flower costume, you’ll need bulky weight yarn and a 5.0 mm hook. For this sample, I used Premier Parfait Chunky!

MAKING THE PETALS:
Use a 5.0 mm hook and desired flower color yarn for the petals.
Round 1: Make a magic circle. Place 6 sc in the MC. Continue to work in the round. [6]
Round 2: [sc inc] x 6 around. [12]
Round 3: [sc, sc inc] x 6 around. [18]
Rounds 4-5: sc x 18 around [18]
Round 6: [sc2tog, sc] x 6 around. [12]
Round 7: [sc2tog, sc x 2] x 3 around. [9]
Round 8: Now, pinch the end of the flower petal together. You will work through BOTH sides of the flower petal to close off the petal. sc x 5 across to close.
You do NOT need to leave a long tail for each petal as they will be crocheted together. Tie off and weave in the end. Make a total of 5 petals for the hat. On the last petal, do NOT cut yarn and tie off. Continue to assembly.
ASSEMBLING THE HAT:
After completing the final petal, ch 1 and turn. sc x 5 back across the end of the petal. Now, pick up the next petal and connecting the two together, sc x 5 across the bottom of that petal. Repeat across three more petals to connect a total of five petals.

On the final stitch, switch to the desired hat color. In this sample, the hat color is green.
Row 1: ch 1 and turn. Working back across the row of sc sts, hdc x 25 in the BLO. Upon reaching the other side, ch 13.
Row 2: Turn and sc x 12 back up the chain. Now, hdc x 25 back across the flowers in the FLO of the prior row. Upon reaching the other side, ch 13. Turn and sc x 12 back up the ch. Cut yarn and tie off. Weave in the ends.
Center the flower petals on Tom’s head and tie the chain strands to secure!
