This FAQ Page will help answer any questions and give you all the insight you need before putting in your application for this cycle of VIP testers. If you’ve tested before, welcome back! Click here to head straight to the application.
What is a VIP Tester Group?
The VIP group is something I started a few years ago and re-started this year. Basically, rather than do a tester call for every pattern that I design, I run a VIP tester group call instead. These VIP tester groups will have tester priority for all projects in a 3-4 month period. Typically, I’ll host 2-3 VIP tester groups per year.
What are the dates for this tester group?
This VIP application is for projects projected in August through November 2025.
Do we have to test EVERY pattern during that time?
Nope! Participants within this VIP group will be the first to know when I am looking for testers for an upcoming project. There will be a large group chosen and generally, I’ll need 4-6 testers for each project. Some projects may be overlapping in their test periods so definitely will not have every VIP testing every project!
I have a project Excel file that will be sent out periodically with upcoming projects. The file will have projected test dates / release dates for a pattern. Once this is sent out, it is a first come, first serve type sign up within the VIP tester group. Ideally, you will commit to at least ONE project within the 4 month testing period.
What if I sign up for a project and then can no longer commit when the test dates roll around?
That is a-OK! Life happens. We’ll sign up for upcoming projects over a two month time span (so August/September and then October/November). Sign up for what you think you want to test. When the test dates come up, I will always double check with the group signed up to make sure that they are still interested and available to do the test!
What kinds of projects are included?
Here’s a look at the “look book” sent to the last VIP tester group for March-June 2025. Most of these projects happened and were released, a couple were delayed, a couple were added. But it gives an idea of what will be included for the sign-ups!
*Remember, these are all projects that have already been completed and released. These are NOT the projects that will be tested during this VIP application*
This tester group period has lots of things planned – multiple bitty buddies, a midi buddy, a couple bobble buddies, checkered toboggan/mittens, a couple checkered holiday pillows and some sweet placemats and coasters! Some projects will be for releases in my own shop and my own designs and some will be for collaborations that I am working on.
What is required of testers?
Testers will be required to finish the project, send feedback and share well-lit/stylized photos by the test deadline. Testers may also be asked to share their projects on Ravelry and possibly on Instagram/Facebook. If you miss the deadline of the project that you signed up for, then most likely you’ll be removed from the tester group (although some times there are understanding circumstances!).
Communication for the group will take place primarily through Instagram, so having an IG account is required. VIPs will be placed into a IG group message chat for overall group communication and thens smaller group chats will be formed for each project test.
How do you choose your testers? Do we have to have a large following?
I 100% do NOT care about following. If you are new or smaller account, no problem. I am way more interested in types of projects you’ve worked on in the past and in aesthetic! I like to have a variety of beginners to advanced crocheters in testing my projects!
What I am Looking for in Testers!
- IG account is REQUIRED. Preferably a PUBLIC Instagram account for sharing.
- Well-stylized and lit photos for showcasing projects.
- Showcased projects are clean / neat-looking in their finished appearance.
- Applicant shows attention to detail.
- Prior testing experience is a plus, but not required. We all start somewhere!
What if we’ve already been a VIP tester? Can we apply again?
YES! Please do. I love having a trusted group of testers and love the community made through the groups!
That being said, I DO want to allow for some variability in the group and to let new people have a change to get “in” on the VIP love! So, I may not choose applicants who have tested in the past for every VIP group. That doesn’t mean I don’t love your work or having you in the group, so please keep applying!
