Block Seven: The Cluster V-Stitch

In block seven we’re learning the cluster v-stitch which adds a beautiful lace-like texture across the block.

The cluster v-stitch (cl v-st) is created by making a “v” shape using clusters of stitches. For this pattern block, the clusters are formed by double crocheting 2 stitches together, working a chain and then double crocheting 2 stitches together.

Cl v-st: (dc2tog, ch 1, dc2tog) all worked into the same space.

BLOCK SEVEN: Cluster V-Stitch

Estimated Block Size for Single Strand Scarf: ~7″ x 9.5″

This block uses just a single color throughout!
Row 1: Working with Color B or desired color, and continuing to work along the last row of block six, sc x 29. These sc sts will be worked along the top of the moss st, so some of the sc sts will be placed in a ch 1 sp and some will be placed in the top of an sc st. [29]
Row 2: ch 2 and turn. This ch 2 counts as a dc st in this block. sk st, cl v-st, [sk 2 sts, cl v-st] x 8, sk st, dc in the last st. [9 cl v-sts]
Row 3: ch 3 and turn. Working in the ch 1 sp of each cl v-st in the prior row, [cl v-st] x 9, dc in the top of the turning ch. [9 cl v-sts]
Rows 4-10: Repeat row 3. [9 cl v-sts]
Row 11: At the end of row 10, ch 1 and turn. Place 28 sc sts evenly spaced across the top of the cl v-st to set the st count for block eight.

On the final st of row 11, place a st marker to hold for block 8. We are finished with Color B so you can cut that color!
