Santa Tom Disguise

Let’s help Tom stay hidden away this Thanksgiving! Follow the pattern below to create a Santa disguise! If you need the original Tom Turkey design, find it here!

To make this Santa costume, you’ll need bulky weight yarn and a 6.5 mm hook. For this sample, I used Premier Parfait Chunky!

*Note: you will note use all of these abbreviations.

MAKING THE HAT:

Use a 6.5 mm hook and desired Santa hat colors. Sample uses white and red.

Round 1: Beginning with white yarn, make a magic circle. Place 6 sc in the MC. Continue to work in the round. [6]
Round 2: [sc inc] x 6 around. [12]
Round 3: [sc inc, sc x 3] x 3 around. [15]
Rounds 4-5: sc x 15 around [15]
Round 6: [sc2tog, sc x 3] x 3 around. [12]
Round 7: [sc2tog] x 6 around. [6] On the final st, switch to red yarn.
Round 8: sc x 6 around. [6]
Round 9: [sc inc, sc] x 3 around. [9]
Rounds 10-12: sc x 9 around. [9]
Round 13: [sc inc, sc x 2] x 3 around. [12]
Rounds 14-16: sc x 12 around. [12]
Round 17: [sc inc, sc] x 6 around. [18]
Rounds 18-19: sc x 18 around.
Round 20: [sc, sc inc, sc] x 6 around. [24]
Round 21: sc x 24 around. [24]
Round 22: [sc inc, sc x 3] x 6 around. [30]
Round 23: sc x 30 around, [30]
Round 24: [sc inc, sc x 4] x 6 around. [36] On the final st, switch to white yarn.
Round 25: hdc x 36 around. [36]
Round 26: sl st x 36 around (loosely!). [36] Cut yarn, tie off and weave in all ends.

MAKING THE OUTFIT:

Use a 6.5 mm hook and desired Santa colors for the body.

Row 1: Beginning with white yarn, ch 21. Working in the second ch from the hook, sc x 21 across. [20]
Row 2: sc inc, sc x 18, sc inc. [22] Switch to red yarn.
Row 3: sc inc, sc x 20, sc inc. [24]
Row 4: sc inc, sc x 22, sc inc. [26]
Rows 5-8: sc x 26 across. [26]
Row 9: sc2tog x 2, sc x 18, sc2tog x 2. [22]
*Place st markers in the first and last sts of Row 9.
Row 10: sc2tog x 2, sc x 14, sc2tog x 2. [18]
Row 11: sc2tog, sc x 14, sc2tog. [16]
Row 12: sc2tog, sc x 2, sc2tog, sc x 4, sc2tog, sc x 2, sc2tog. [12]
Row 13: sc2tog, sc x 3, sc2tog, sc x 3, sc2tog. [9]
Row 14: sc2tog, sc x 2, sc2tog, sc, sc2tog. [6]
Row 15: sc x 6. CH 1 and turn. [6]
Row 16: sl st x 6 across. [6]

Now, ch 6. Re-attaching at the st marker in Row 9, sc x 7 along the side. Cut and tie off red yarn and switch to white yarn. sc x 1 on the side, sc x 20 across the bottom and sc x 1 on the other side. Cut and tie off white yarn and switch to red yarn. sc x 7 along the opposite side. At the st marker in Row 9, ch 6 and attach to the top row of the body. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Tada! Now Tom can blend into the seasonal decor to stay safe and sound this holiday!
