How to Crochet the Moss Stitch (or Linen Stitch)

The Moss stitch is also known as the linen stitch or even the seed stitch. Regardless of the name you choose, this stitch uses a combination of very simple beginner crochet stitches to create a beautiful interwoven texture across the front of your work.

Using a series of alternating single crochet stitches and chain stitches, the moss stitch creates a woven-like design. With this stitch, you will repeatedly sc, ch 1 and skip a stitch. When you turn to work back across the row, the sc sts will be placed in the ch 1 sp and the top of the sc sts will be skipped Be sure to keep tension loose on the chains or your block may turn out tight! You may also consider increasing hook size with this stitch to prevent a tightened block!
