BLOCK TWO: Tapestry Crochet
Block Two in our Stitchwork Scarf features a checkerboard design using tapestry crochet. Tapestry crochet is a colorwork technique used to create patterns and designs within a row by using multiple strands of color.

You will use two colors for this block – Color B and Color C, alternating the colors as described in the pattern below. When working this technique, crochet the stitches in the pattern with one color while carrying the other color along the row and crocheting over it. Alternate back and forth in this fashion.

Estimated Block Size for Single Strand Scarf: ~7″ x 9.5″
*In these pattern instructions, note Color B stitches will be in bold and Color C stitches will be unbolded to note the differences. If you prefer colored instructions, you can find them in the pdf pattern.
Row 1: Working with Color B or desired color, and continuing to work along the last row of block one, (sc x 6, sc x 6) x 2, sc x 6. Ch 1 and turn. [30]
Rows 2-5: (sc x 6, sc x 6) x 2, sc x 6. Ch 1 and turn. On the final row 5, ch 1 and turn. [30]
Row 6-10: (sc x 6, sc x 6) x 2, sc x 6. Ch 1 and turn. On the final row 10, ch 1 and turn.[30]
Row 11-15: (sc x 6, sc x 6) x 2, sc x 6. Ch 1 and turn. On the final row 15, ch 1 and turn. [30]
Rows 16-20: (sc x 6, sc x 6) x 2, sc x 6. Ch 1 and turn. On the final row 20, ch 1 and turn.[30]
Rows 21-25: (sc x 6, sc x 6) x 2, sc x 6. Ch 1 and turn.
On the final stitch in row 25, switch to Color D, to be used in Block Three.
Ch 1 and turn. Cut Color B and C and weave in the ends. OR use a stitch marker to hold your place at the end of the block and stay tuned for Block Three where we will learn the puff stitch!
